I think there should be a study to see if the HOV lane on the southeast expressway is really beneficial or not. It seems every morning traffic backs up from the Columbia road merge. Traffic also backs up caused by people entering the lane. On the southbound side, traffic is backed up by everyone stopping to look at the police monitoring the lane.
Then in the evening the northbound expressway is a mess because of the Neponset on ramp. Southbound traffic backs up at the Braintree merge. Considering the costs and aggrivation this lane causes and it only benefits a small portion of the communters I believe it should be shut down.
