MANNY.
Is Manny Ramirez coming or going? Since the tight lipped Red Sox are claiming that a deal has to be made by tomorrow (wed the 5th) night or there will be no deal, it looks as tho there will not be a deal, at least not by Wednesday night. No one wants to give up half of what Manny ir worth and the Sox will not give him away. As quirky as he is, he still produces- when he wants to.
I think the only team that would take Manny and have what the Red Sox want is the Dodgers- LA or bust(on) for Manny. More Red Sox news (J.D. Drew???-below)
PATRIOTS- Legit Contenders or not?
Who would have thought that Bill Parcells has a better chance of getting to the Super Bowl than Bill Belichick, but that is the reality of the situation right now!
With 4 games left, we may be able to tell a little more about the Pats before the playoffs begin, but I think we have a pretty good idea right now and right now they are playing like a team bound for a 2nd round exit in the playoffs.
While injuries are a part of the game, the Pats have suffered some to pivotal players like Rodney Harrison and Junior Seau to say nothing about safety Eugene Wilson. Harrison could be (and I'm saying will be) back for the playoffs but I don't think that will be enough.
Seau ended up being much better than anyone expected and his loss is a big one. Ty Warren has been their best player while Tedy Bruschi and Mike Vrabel have both played very well, but the Pats offense has not been potent enough on a regular basis to give me reason to think they this team can advance far into the playoffs. Lawrence Maroney has been tremendous while Corey Dillon is his usual surly self off the field and plays like it on the field(which is good news for Pats fans) Good thing he has Maroney to spell him
But the biggest hindrance the Pats face- as of this writing -is the near impossible task of having to win 2 playoff games on the road -@ San Diego & @ Indy, and San Diego scares me more than Indy.
For the Pats to return to the Super Bowl they must, somehow sneak into that 2nd playoff spot to earn a 1st round bye and home playoff game in that 2nd week of the playoffs, or this seasons finish may look very familiar to last years
BRUINS- Finally, Some Life!
After a disheartening start, there is life on Causeway street. Winners of 9 of their last 12, playoff games will return to Causeway street again after this season.
I know that their is alot of hockey left, but I like the ditrection they are going if Tim Thomas can start to play more consistently which is a big, big question mark.
CELTICS- Can you say Greg Oden??
You may not know who Greg Oden is, but by next June and for years to come the Celtics hope that you will know everything about him because they hope he will be wearing Celtics Green next season and beyond.
Oden is a 7 foot freshman center for Ohio State who will be the #1 pick in next June's NBA draft and the Celtics are playing like they just may earn that #1 pick.
The Celts have young players, and younger players, and more younger players, which is too bad for Paul Pierce who is getting little help. Some of the young players -like Gerald Green and Rajon Rondo have serious potential and are fun to watch. The Celts hope they will be even more fun to watch with Greg Oden as their Center
MORE RED SOX - J.D. Drew-Are you kidding?
The Red Sox are going to give 14-15 Million a year for a guy who averages just 118 games played a year? All for a .393 On base percentage? This for a guy who can't even get his initials in the correct order (David Jonathon Drew) Hope he morphs into Mickey Mantle.
